Terracotta Sculpture

 This activity focuses on terracotta sculpture, where  students will learn to shape and mold terracotta. They will  practice techniques like modeling and firing to create  sculptures. The activity offers hands-on experience in  working with terracotta from start to finish.


Board Games to Promote Indian Art Forms

Stage 1 – The class was divided in the groups of 4-5 students each and  they had to select an art form. 

Stage 2 – The students made infographics sheet explaining each art for  in detail. The content of the sheet included origin, history, materials used  & process making the art. 

Stage 3 – The students then made mind maps of 2-3 types of board  games applicable to promote the selected art form. 

Stage 4 – The students then made the actual board game along with  its flash cards, rule book, logo & packaging. The board game was such  that they can actually play with it. 

Stage 5 – The students actually displayed their games in class where  they were explaining their game & they were actually playing each  other’s games.

Brick bonds and masonry

This Assignment is integrated with the subject BCM-I 

Students have Prepared Sheet about various types of Brick bond  The students prepared Scaled bricks, using terracotta clay  then they will make bonds.

. The students documented the data in sketches and notes format  in journal.


Truss

08th & 15th  May 2024

 

The Queen and King Post Truss Model Making assignment involves  building small models of both trusses. The Queen Post Truss uses two  vertical posts and is for longer spans, while the King Post Truss has  one central post for shorter spans. Students will learn about  structural design and load distribution. The task helps apply these  concepts through hands-on building.


Timber Joinery

20th & 20th  March 2024

 

The timber joinery assignment focuses on understanding key  joints like mortise and tenon, dovetail, and butt joints. It  requires demonstrating practical skills in creating these joints  with precision and using the appropriate tools. The assignment  emphasizes the importance of strength, durability, and  craftsmanship in woodworking.


Workshop on “HVAC System Design and Air Distribution – Heat load calculations”

As a part of their Building Services syllabus, students of Third year B-Arch study about Air Conditioning Systems. Workshop conducted by the guest expert Er. Subodh Pagere provided a basic training about calculating the HVAC Heat Load for the Design Project, and for designing a Ducting Layout for the same.

3rd Yr students have benefitted w.r.t. the following learning outcomes –

  • HVAC ‘System Selection Criteria’ & ‘System Design Criteria’ for any project
  • Methods to calculate the building’s heating / cooling loads
  • Ducting Layouts for Central Air-Conditioning systems.
  • Non-Conventional HVAC systems in current practices
  • HVAC is a new Opportunity for Architects

Workshop on “Architect’s role in reducing the Heat Load and HVAC Heat Load Calculations”

Students of Third year B-Arch Study about Air Conditioning Systems. As per the Syllabus, topics covered under this Lecture Seminar and Studio Workshop  provided a basic training about calculating the HVAC Heat Load for their Design Projects, and for designing a Ducting Layout for the same. Er. Sachin Save Director at Ventus Air Conditioners, Pvt. Ltd. explained the various aspects  w.r.t. the following learning outcomes:

  • HVAC ‘System Selection Criteria’ & ‘System Design Criteria’ 
  • Methods to calculate the building’s heating/cooling loads
  • Ducting Layouts for Central Air-Conditioning systems.
